Storyteller is a general fiction
magazine. Our readers especially enjoy humour, adventure,
mystery, drama, suspense, horror, SF and fantasy. However,
some genre stories can be too "hard core" for us, and are
better suited to a specialty magazine. We recommend you
read an issue or two to get a feel for what we publish.
Our editorial board chooses stories for their entertainment
value and literary merit. We want characters our readers
can care about, and who show us who they are by what they
do.

- Stories must be original works of fiction between
2,000 and 6,000 words. We occasionally accept reprints,
but not from well-known magazines or webzines.
- No simultaneous submissions.
- No electronic or faxed submissions.
- Use standard manuscript format (double-spaced, wide
margins, etc.).
- Your name, address, phone number, and e-mail address should
appear in the upper left hand corner of the first page.
- A brief cover letter is preferred, but not requisite
If you want to hear back from us, enclose a self-addressed
stamped envelope (S.A.S.E.). We occasionally mark
manuscripts, so you may want to make it a large S.A.S.E.
Manuscripts sent from outside Canada should include
sufficient Canadian return postage or International
Reply Coupons - we cannot use US or other
foreign postage and will unable to return your manuscript.
We try to return manuscripts quickly, but stories that
miss a deadline may be held over for the next one; this
can take up to six months. Please let us know if you
do not wish a manuscript to be held over.
